HSS M2 material is the basic material in high speed steel. and widely used for gear cutting tools and gear hobs.
Chemical composition of M2: C-0.9, Cr-4.2, Mo-5, W-6.4, Co-0, V-1.8
Standards: Europe-HS 6-5-2, USA: AISI M2, Germany-1.3343, Sweden-SS 2722, France: AFNOR Z85 WDCV6.5.4.2, Janpan-JIS SKH51, UK-BM2
HSS M2 is a medium-alloyed high speed steel which has good machinability and a good performance and is used in a wide variety of applications.
Hardness of gear hobs with HSS M2: HRC 63-66
Coating: TiN or AP is available for hobs
Applications of HSS M2: gear cutting tools. gear hobs, shaper cutters, shaving cutters, milling cutter and broaches.
